Diddlies Lose Again

The Bonediddlies came into Monday night's game knowing they were playing for the 2 seed in the playoffs. They all were very focused, and had no reason to believe that they were not going to come out on top. Unfortunately, their bats decided not to show up.

The Bones lost another close one to LeDonne, losing 5-4 in 8 innings. For a 16 inch softball game, the score is very pitiful actually. The Bones had the lead the whole game, leading 3-1, then 3-2, and still held the lead in the 7th. After a leadoff home run by LeDonne's 3 hitter, the Bones held LeDonne scoreless the rest of the inning. The Bones had their chance, but didn't do anything in their half. The next inning, LeDonne put up 2 runs, both unearned, and it proved to be enough.

The Bones tried to get a rally going in their half, getting the first 2 men on base. Schmidt then lined out hard to the left fielder, and J. Eversole grounded into a questionable fielder's choice at 2nd. He then tried to force the issue by taking 2nd, then 3rd, and eventually home. He came up just a bit short of home, as the Bones lost this one 5-4.

So the Bones finish up the regular season 6-4, good enough for 4th in the league. They most likely will draw Noodles and Co. in the first round of the playoffs. They beat them earlier this year, so hopefully history will repeat itself.
