The Bonediddlies had their season come to an abrupt end after a 9-7 loss to 0-10 (1-0) Mullen's. They played very tight, and made too many errors. The biggest problem, though, was the hitting. The Bones scored 14 runs in their past 3 games combined. It just wasn't meant to be for the Diddlies this year.
Jon Kinsey did a great job subbing it at C/RF, but it definitely wasn't enough. Too many errors, and not enough clutch hitting.
The Bones hopefully can recover from this stinging loss ASAP. More to come later...

Diddlies split; All but guaranteed 2 seed
The Bonediddlies split their doubleheader, losing the first game 13-1, then winning against defending champ Muldoons' 6-5. The Bonediddlies were very sloppy both games, but the fielding picked up the second game. That gives the Bonediddlies an 8-2 record, with 4 of those victories coming by just one run.
They have secured the 2nd seed at the worst. In order to be the 1 seed and receive a bye, they would need Hoxie to beat Fedyski....YEAH RIGHT.
Information on next weeks' game will be posted as soon as it is avaliable!

The Bonediddlies will have some action and candid shots added to the website soon! Stay tuned!
Bones Win 7th Game of the Year
The Bonediddlies won their 7th game in 8 tries this season, defeating Hoxie 12-6 Monday night. The Bonediddlies had a bit of a different alignment, with starting SS Joe Eversole moving to right field for the game. Other corresponding changes were Evan Mielke to SS, Kevin Jednachowski to LF, Trent-Shararstoppel to CF, and Dave Kinsey to Rover. Sam Russell's contract was purchased from the AA Savannah Georgia Peaches for the game, and he started at catcher.
The Bonediddlies crushed Hoxie earlier in the year, beating them 14-1. This game was never really close. After the Diddlies gave up 2 runs in the top of the first, they rallied for 8 runs in the 2nd, and never looked back. The defense played very well, even with the realignment. Mielke and Eversole will move back to LF and SS, respectively, next week.
The Bones will definitely have to step up their game next week, as they will be playing 2 of the better teams in the league, in Armbrust and Naberhaus. They will be without Nolan Cruz, their star center fielder, for the first game. His status for game 2 is to be determined. The Diddlies will look at their options, and a corresponding move will take place before next Monday. It's not likely Sam Russell or Sam Fawkes, the past 2 callups, will take part in Game 1, because the Bones will be looking for a speedy outfielder, and although these 2 provide plenty with the bat, they are not known for their fielding. Both will most likely be optioned back to AA before the end of the week.
Come support the Bones for the final regular season games next Monday!

Game Notes
The Bones will be taking on Hoxie at 6:15 on Monday night. This figures to be an easy victory for the Dids, but there's a reason you play the games. As expected, Evan Mielke will be starting at SS, and Dave Kinsey will be starting in the Outfield. Joe Eversole, the regular SS, will move to right field, as he is still nursing a sore leg. Hoxie has one lefty so he should not be tested. Kevin Jednachowski will slide over to either LF or CF. All other Bones will be starting at their regular positions, but could move around if the game becomes well in hand.
After tonight's game, the Diddlies will be looking ahead to the regular season finale, a double header vs. Armbrust and Naberhaus. The Diddlies stole a game from Armbrust last week, winning 6-5 in the last at-bat. They have yet to take on Naberhaus, the defending champion, and their archrival. The Bones own a career 2-3 record vs. Naberhaus. The first game will also be at 6:15 next week. See you at Graf Park!

Bonediddlies Notes
A replay of the Monday's classic comeback will be airing on MLB Network as part of their 4th of July Classics package.
If you weren't in attendance, the Diddlies did not have a good game offensively or defensively, but they made the plays in the field when they needed to. Also, the hitting was slow as usual, but in the last inning, the Diddlies chipped away at the 5-3 deficit, eventually loading the bases before Dave Kinsey drilled a single up the middle, scoring Joe Eversole and Ben Robillard, respectively.
The Diddlies have been making plenty of physical errors lately, but the mental errors have been stacking up as well. To be the champion of the league, they need to limit both types, especially the latter.
The Diddlies play Monday, July 6th vs. league doormat Hoxie. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15.
Injury Update: After beating out a fielders choice in the bottom of the 7th with a feet first slide, Joe Eversole hustled into 3rd, sliding headfirst, and was promptly cleated in the left eye. He stayed in the game, but has developed 2 minor injuries. The eye, which is slightly black, is not painful and should not limit him. The other injury is far more serious, a huge scrape from sliding on his right leg. He will be getting treatment all week and will be re-evaluated on Saturday. It's likely he won't be at Shortstop for Monday's game. This is partially because of the injury, but also because of the recent struggles he's faced. After having a great year defensively last year, Eversole's defense has slipped. He's hoping to get some practice and be back to the level of D he played last year. Evan Mielke will most likely rotate to SS, with other moves to correspond.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the week

Cruz on leave vs. Hoxie
Nolan Cruz, the Bonediddlies centerfielder who hit a 2 run homer last week against Armbrust to tie the game at 3, will miss next weeks' game due to a prior engagement. Not only has Cruz been a stud at the plate, but hardly any balls have dropped (pun intended) in the outfield of Mielke, Cruz, and Jednachowski. He will be avaliable the next game!

Diddlies win in dramatic fashion!
The Bonediddlies improved their record to 6-1 on the season with a bottom of the 7th comeback! They won the game 6-5. They trailed 5-3 entering the bottom half of the inning, so clutch hits were needed to come back, and there was none bigger than Dave Kinsey! A bizarre move to intentionally walk Kevin Jednachowski, and Dave made them pay with a shot up the middle with 2 outs. The Diddlies showed patience and poise, and were able to come out on top. The game had a few physical errors, but the mental errors almost cost the Diddlies! They will play next week @ 615 against Hoxie, who they previously beat 14-1!
Garza cut; Fawkes to catch
Valente Garza, the Milton Bradley of the Bonediddlies has been sent home by manager Pat Eversole.
"He will not return anytime soon, he has to get his mind right before he can play for us again".
Garza was designated for assignment because of his painting job has drained him, physically and mentally.

Bonediddlies get crushed physically and mentally
It was a night of firsts for the Bonediddlies. They took one on the chin from league power house Fedyski, losing 11-4, with Fedyski scoring 9 unanswered runs. The defense was horrible, the hitting was not clutch. Hopefully the Bonediddlies can redeem themselves next week at 815 pm against Armbrust.
Game Updates
A game update after the game tonight may not be avaliable at www.bonediddlies.blogspot.com due to site maintanence. If you couldn't make the game, the score will be avaliable on twitter!
SCHMIDT IS IN!
Mike Schmidt, with an injured foot, will play tonight @ 815. He will have a pinch runner everytime he reaches!
Sunday, June 21, 2009
Schmidt: 35%
Starting 3rd basemen Mike Schmidt is at about 35% for tomorrows' huge game against Fedyski. Schmidt injured the foot while doing charity work for the Boys and Girls' club of Winfield. The Bonediddlies will have a little different look on defense, but not quite sure with who and where quite yet. GO DIDDLIES and get better big 69!

Schmidt injury?
According to an AP report, Mike Schmidt, Diddlies' 3rd basemen has an undisclosed injury. More details to follow as soon as they are avaliable!

Rules Interpretation
According to the ASA rule book, a Mullens' player who stepped more than three feet out of the baseline on Monday after a Diddly error should have been called out. This according to rule 8 section 7 article I. (Live Ball Appeal). According to the 3rd Base coach from Mullens', you have to make a play on the runner. This rule proves, that is not the case. How does it feel to be outsmarted by a 20 year old? READ THE RULEBOOK!

Diddlies sweep doubleheader!
The Bonediddlies have improved their record to 5-0 on the season! They completed the sweep of their doubleheader by winning the first game against Hoxie, who they trounced 14-1.The game started with a bang, with the ASA umpire blowing an appeal that went against the Diddlies. This just added fuel to the fire! The Bonediddlies were playing very loose, and we're able to take the game in 5 innings by a score of 14-1
The second game was a bit more contested. The Bonediddlies, still feeling a little loosey-goosey from the first game, struggled throughout the first 3 innings, even trailing O'Malley 3-1 at one point. The Bonediddlies turned it on in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings, eventually tallying 14 runs, and winning that game 14-4.
The Bonediddlies will continue their season next Monday, June 22nd.

Diddlies enjoy playing "Ketchup"
Once again, the Bonediddlies improved to 3-0, their best start in their brief 3 year history. It is believed that they are the most hated team in the league, for being so scrappy. The Bonediddlies look forward to sweeping their doubleheader on June 15th, with the first game starting at 8:15 pm sharp!

Diddlies Enjoy Hot Dogs with Ketchup
The Bonediddlies have started the season 3-0 in 2009. They beat one of the best teams in the league, LeDonne, 15-11. It wasn't pretty. For the first 4 innings, both teams were held scoreless. LeDonne looked like they had the game well in hand on numerous occasions, but the Bonediddlies kept clawing back, trailing 4-0, then 8-4, and always finding a way to come back! The Bonediddlies will have a doubleheader next week, June 15th, where they will hope to improve to 5-0!

June 8th Game Info
The Bonediddlies will be playing tomorrow night, June 8th, at 9:15 against LeDonne. Lifetime against LeDonne, they are 1-2, but that 1 was in the playoffs last year! Jon Kinsey will be making his return and playing 2nd base. The weather doesn't look bad for gametime, but it will all depend on Monday morning/afternoon. The June 1st doubleheader will be made up at the end of the year!

Bonediddlies squeak out another W
The Bonediddlies improved their record to 2-0 on the young season, by beating league powerhouse Fedyski. The Bonediddlies beat Fedyski for the second time in their brief history, last year by the smallest of margins, 12-11, and this year 10-8. It wasn't easy though. It took an extra inning to do it, but the Bonediddlies clutch hitting and great defense carried them to a W.
Dave Kinsey and Trent Sharar Stoppel came back in grand fashion, both with clutch hits. Mike Schmidt, 3rd Basemen, drove other Bonediddlies out at will, and almost turned a spectacular double play.
Ben Robillard distanced himself from Fedyski as the leagues' best 1st Basemen, scooping everything in sight. Nolan Cruz and Evan Mielke made all the routine plays in the outfield, and Cruz robbed the clean up hitter of Fedyski of at least a triple by tracking down a ball that might have left Fenway Park!
The Eversoles' and Sharar continued to get on, and get driven in, by Mike Schmidt, giving the Bonediddlies an early lead. The Bonediddlies only trailed by one, and were able to close the gap in the later innings.
The next games will be June 1st, a doubleheader for the Bonediddlies. They will play Armbrust, who branched off from Fedyski in the day game, and will finish with Naberhaus, the defending champ. The night cap will be a rematch of last years' championship game.
The Bonediddlies will also welcome back another comrade, Jon "College" Kinsey. We will see you then at Graf Park Field #5

ROSTER NEWS
The contract of Colin Watson has been purchased from Triple A. He will fill in for Kevin Jednachowski in Right field!
Roster News
It appears that Kevin Jednachowski will be slowed by a flight delay in New York, so the Bonediddlies will be without his service tonight. He was slated to play RF this week, since Nolan Cruz, newly acquired Diddly, has taken over in CF. Trent S2 will return to rover, and Dave Kinsey will return to catcher. Colin Watson is a possible fill in in RF. We will keep you posted.
Weather Update
With a chilly victory last week, the Bonediddlies look to "heat up" in more ways than one. The temperature should be around 65 degrees comes gametime, and there is no rain in the forecast!

Roster Updates
The Bonediddlies will welcome back two of their regulars this week. Trent Sharar-Stoppel, the Rover, will be avaliable for next weeks' game. Also, Dave Kinsey, the starting catcher, will be pegged in the starting lineup. Mike Eversole (Uncle Mike) and Kyle Martin have been designated for assignment. They both have minor league options left, so they can expect to be called up again. Nolan Cruz looks to become a permanent member of the Bonediddlies.
This will put the Bonediddlies at 11 players as soon as the last regular, 2nd basemen, Jon Kinsey, returns from an injury rehabilitation. This means the Bonediddlies will employ an extra hitter starting when Jon is avaliable.

Bonediddlies grab a W
The Bonediddlies grabbed their 1st victory of the season, defeating Mullens' Bar.
The Diddlies got out to a 3-0 lead, but throughout the game, Mullens' was chipping away. Defensive miscues by the Eversole double play combo, Mike Schmidt and Evan Mielke all lead to an eventual 7-5 lead going into the top of the 7th.
It didn't look promising, with Jake Brady on 3rd with 2 outs and the Diddlies down to their last bullet. 2 out hitting came alive. Great hustle throughout the top of the 7th, and clutch hitting, especially by Ben Robillard, Kevin Jednachowski, and Mike Schmidt. Evan Mielke also came up huge. Kyle Martin and Nolan Cruz also followed with basehits. It lead to a huge rally that Mullens' could not overcome.
Although the Diddlies were not particularly sharp on the defensive end, they put up a great fight with a 2 out rally in the 7th. They will not be able to get away with so many miscues next week, as they face league powerhouse, Fedyski at 7:15 pm.
Lineup
It appears Mike Eversole, a journeyman minor leaguer, will be catching tonight for the Bonediddlies. It is likely that he will bat last in the order, to balance out power and speed. 4 hours until gametime!
BREAKING NEWS
This just in:
Valente Garza will not be playing catcher tonight for the Bonediddlies. A possible replacement is still up in the air. It's possible Luke Wasowski could be filing it, but it has yet to be determined.

2009 Season Notes
It's almost that time of year again! The Bonediddlies will be taking the field at Graf Park Field #5 for a third straight year! This almost wasn't the case actually, though.
The schedule came out about a week ago, and the official announcement was that the 16 inch league had relocated to Atten 20. This made most of the league very unhappy, including the Bonediddlies. Graf Park has a very historic feel to it, and by moving to Atten Park, Wheaton's main facility for recreation, the league could have lost some luster. Also, with opening day planned for May 4th, over half of the starting lineup would not have been able to make it.
Thank goodness that both of the problems were resolved. After some debate, the league date was pushed back, but more importantly, Graf Park #5 was deemed playable for the season. After last year's 3 week delay with the lights and weather, the season will be starting early this year for the team, but that's a good thing because rainouts are expected. Opening night will be on May 11th!
The schedule also features something new: scheduled doubleheaders! This is exciting news, and all the men in the league just love the game, especially the Bonediddlies. The Bones will have their doubleheaders on June 1st and on June 15th, respectively.
The league features 7 teams this year, with 2 new squads. After a dismal year, Lafond, the worst team in Wheaton history, decided not to field a team this year. Also, Still Kickin', the main rival of the Bonediddlies the past 2 years, is not fielding a team this year. It's possible that they have made ownership changes, but no one is quite sure. The two new teams, are Armbrust and Hoxie. It's a bit confusing, because Armbrust actually was on Fedyski last year, but those developments will play out as the season goes on.
As for the Bonediddlies this season, there was not alot of offseason activity. Actually, there were no roster moves made.
The minor league system has been replenished and is going strong, and will be lead by players such as Valente Garza, Mike Eversole, and Joe Sengel. Various other Bones could be called up along the way.
As for the big club, they look to be running out a very similar lineup to last year. After a 2nd place finish in the league last year, the Bones didn't want to change the lineup at all. They really did have a team that could, and should have won it all. This season, the team is going to try and eliminate the mental errors, and hopefully hoist the Dan Novak Memorial Trophy.
(Note: Dan Novak is no longer the comissioner of the league. It's unclear whether he resigned or was forced out. He did an awful job though with scheduling the past 2 seasons.)
The opening day lineup is still being formulated, but the positions/players on this list are very probable. This is NOT a batting order.

3B Mike Schmidt #
OF Evan Mielke !
OF Pat Eversole
OF Kevin Jednachowski
C Dave Kinsey
P Jake Brady
*denotes Gold Glove

As you can see, the lineup is missing a rover and a 2nd basemen. Trent Sharar-Stoppel and Jon Kinsey will be finishing up their semesters on the May 11th date. Jon Kinsey could also miss 2 additional games, so the Bones will be looking at their minor league system for some help. A source close to the team says Kyle Martin, a fantastic outfielder, has been contacted about a possible callup. This move, if made, would move one of the Bones outfielders, to a 2nd basemen. These situations will be handled by management, and we will let you know of the decisions as soon as we hear.

Schedule
Hey guys!
Just got a copy of the schedule, and for some reason it is not letting me post! I have paper copies to give to everyone. The first two weeks, games are at 6:15 pm, MAY 4th and 11th. I know that a handful of you will not be able to be there, so let me know if you are one of those unfortunate few who will still be stuck in the world of academia!
On a sad note, we will no longer be playing at Graf Park Field 5. The league has been moved to Atten Park Field 20. This is what we like to call in the business, horseshit! See you guys soon!
I will post the schedule later! There are 7 teams in the league this year. We have a doubleheader on June 15th!!!

IMPORTANT LEAGUE INFO!
Attention Bonediddlies:
The league fee is due May 1st. I know I will not be able to see most of you until the first game, which is either May 4th or 11th, not quite sure yet. I have the league meeting to attend on April 21st, and will have more details as they arrive. New uniforms were ordered today. They will look like this
Front:
Property of
XL
Bonediddly
Softball
Back:
Number
Of course, it will be centered on the front, I just didn't take the time to get the precise dimensions on this post. It will be about $55 total for the league fee (jacked up again, thanks Wheaton Park District) and a new t-shirt uniform. (About $15.05 to make). I will front the money, but I really would like to be paid back as soon as possible! Can't wait to see you guys!! I will let you know all the information as soon as it becomes avaliable.

Announcement
Hey guys,
We're still about a month away from games, but hopefully everyone is getting in the right mindset...
League Fee is still being calculated, because uniforms are now going to be added. We're getting a quote on the uniforms this week, and I will contact everyone if needed. If you did not respond to my message, I will pick a uniform number and size that I see fit for you.
Most likely, the first real game will be on May 18th, with May 11th being a practice game. I'm looking forward to getting the league back together! The official league start is May 4th, but we all know that could change.
Also, apparently Dan Novak is no longer running our league, and we can only hope this is true. Pure speculation though.
If anyone has any questions, commments or anything just text me or post on this wall. Now take a lap!

Update
SUP DIDDLIES?
Not everyone will be required to buy a new uniform, but I'm assuming you all want one unless you tell me directly otherwise. The shirts will be short sleeved, black, and have the logo and 'bonediddlies' written on them. Numbers and Names are not a necessity, but we will see. I will be getting in touch with everyone regarding payment on April first. Remember, it's going to be at least 65 dollars. We could not find a sponsor because, as typical as it sounds, of the economy. No one really wanted to shell out extra cash during this time. We tried numerous businesses around the area, mostly restaurants, and none of them budged. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know ASAP!

New Information
What's up Bonediddlies players and fans?
Just a heads up, league information has just arrived.
Season will start May 4th, likely an exhibition game, and the first game is tenatively scheduled for May 11th. Championship Day is tenatively scheduled for August 3rd. This gives us a lot of time for makeup games, with a span 13 weeks to play 10 games.
Times will be at 6:15, 7:15, 8:15, and possibly 9:15.
We're still looking for a sponsor to get new uniforms and to lower our league fee.
Please contact the Bonediddlies by either calling my cell phone or commenting on this message, or an email at jesox38@hotmail.com

It's close, but still a ways away...
As we get a break from this brutal Chicago winter with these 50 degree temperatures, let's look at the state of the Bonediddlies.
There were some questions going into the offseason though. Would the team get back together? Well fans, the answer is a resounding yes! After their 2nd season, which ended in a 2nd place finish, no one was quite sure what was to happen to the team. We caught up with Joe Eversole, the team's shortstop, at his winter home in DeKalb over the weekend.
"Yeah, there's no doubt we're getting back together. We all talk once in a while, but we like to take care of our own business during the offseason. Once April rolls around, that's the best time of year. I can't wait to play for the title this year."
The Diddlies have made minimal offseason transactions, partly because of the economy, but more so because the roster last year was very successful. The minor league system has also seen little movement, because management feels good about what they have. Their projected payroll is around 60 dollars, as they locked up mostly all the pieces for the squad through the 2009 season.
The Bones are in a bit of a financial crunch though. New uniforms and the league fee could hit the squad hard this season. The Advertising and Marketing department have been working around the clock trying to secure some more financial wiggle room for the franchise.
As for the players, who are scattered around numerous jobs and schools all over this great nation, they all have one common goal for the season. Just win, baby.
More to come, as the team will report to optional spring training sometime in March. GO BONEDIDDLIES!
