Bonediddly Offseason

Bonediddlies finish strong, but not strong enough
The Bonediddlies season ended with a loss in the championship game to defending champion Muldoons last night. The Bonediddlies started out strong in the Semi-final game, beating LeDonne 12-3. The Bonediddlies had lost twice to LeDonne already 14-12 and 5-4 in the regluar season. The Bonediddlies came out hitting, and when that usually happens, that means trouble for the opponent. The defense was solid, the pitching was great, and the hitting was timely. It all came together, and the Diddlies were ready to win a title.
The game started off slow for the Diddlies, as they surrendered 2 runs in the first inning. Not only were they trailing, they did not get a baserunner until the 3rd inning. The Diddlies trailed 4-0 and needed to get something going. They had the bases loaded with one run already in, and then a busch league call by the umpire was the first out of the inning, then the ultimate rally killer, an inning ending double play. The Diddlies then railled back and tied the game, with some clutch hitting from the top of the order, especially Mike Schmidt. The Diddlies had some trouble in the 7th inning, but a double play turned by Joe Eversole kept the game at a tie. Joe then led of the bottom half with a single, and Trent Sharar-Stoppel, Pat Eversole, and Mike Schmidt couldn't do anything with it. The top half of the 8th didn't turn out too well. A great play by David Kinsey to save a run was all for naught. Muldoons ended up scoring 4 that inning, with the big blow being a bases clearing triple. The Diddlies tried to make a comeback, but just fell short.
The Bonediddlies will look back on the season as a success. The defense of Evan Mielke, Pat Eversole and Ben Robillard really helped out. Jon Kinsey's emergence as a spray hitter kept the other teams' on their toes. The left side of the infield just keeps on getting better with Joe Eversole and Mike Schmidt virtually becoming vacuums. Kevin Jednachowski continues to be one of the biggest speed threats in the league. Dave Kinsey is the best defensive catcher in the league in 12 years, and Jake Brady could join the 16 inch softball hall of fame before it is all said and done. Trent Sharar Stoppel is establishing himself as the best 2 hitter in the league.
Although the Bonediddlies didn't get the result they ultimatley wanted, they will continue to improve, and hopefully someday bring home the Dan Novak Memorial Trophy.
Big Questions loom in the off season. Will everyone be back? Will their be new additions to the Bonediddlies? Will they lose some players to free agency? The Bonediddlies and their management will re-evauluate all the possiblities.

Semi Final Game PPD
With the nasty storm Monday night, games were postponed. It is not clear whether Naberhaus vs. Fedyski will be re-started, continued, or counted as a full game. That game was in the middle innings when the tornado sirens went off. Tuesday is a possibility, and also next Monday. As expected, Novak has not let anyone know, because he is out of town.
Game still on; Weather still not cooperating
There has been no word about the game's status yet. Most likely, the game will be cancelled, but the grounds crew has been working hard since 8 A.M. Central Standard time.
There has been speculation that the game, if cancelled, could be moved to Tuesday, or possibly Wednesday. The Bones are hoping that it won't get moved to Monday August 11th, which would be a 2 week layoff.

Bonediddlies make final preparations
The Bonediddlies had their final practice of the 2008 season on Sunday night at Wheaton North High School. Only few media members were allowed to attend the session.
There were 5 Bones not in attendance today. Mike Schmidt, Trent Sharar-Stoppel, and Jake Brady were excused for personal reasons. Ben Robillard and Evan Mielke were rumored to stop and talk to the owner of the Bonediddlies, and it's not clear if they got to practice. What is clear is that both Mielke and Robillard would be playing in a Rookie League game to get ready for the big games tomorrow. Bonediddlies staff did not think that these 2 guys were risking their health at all by playing in this game.
After the 1-hour batting practice was over, only Joe Eversole stuck around to give us a few words.
"This is what it all comes down to. We started dreaming about this day in March, and it's finally here. It's our job to execute now. If we don't get it done tomorrow, the reason will be because we didn't execute."
That's all from the Bones camp right now. Come support us at 8:00 vs. LeDonne! The championship will have the winner of Fedyski/Naberhaus vs. winner of Bonediddlies/LeDonne. SEE YOU THERE

Goal not accomplished by Bonediddlies yet
When the Bonediddlies finished the 2007 with a 5-4 record, they were disappointed that they could not partake in the playoffs. They would have been the 2 seed, and maybe could have won the championship. The first year of the franchise would not be considered successful, but definitely far from a disappointment. But now, it's all in the past now for the Bones, as they look ahead to Monday August 4th, 2008.
The Bonediddlies record currently stands at 7-4, the best winning percentage in franchise history. The goal for the Bonediddlies this year was not only to secure the leagues' #1 seed, but to dominate any team that got in their way. They really wanted to be the team accepting the Dan Novak Memorial Trophy at the end of the year as well.
Not everything went to plan during the year, but the Bones did finish as a 3 seed for the regular season (The league expanded from 6 to 8 teams this season). As usual, the team started off very slow, losing their first 2 games. Then, the reeled off 5 straight wins, then split their last 2 regular season games. The 2 stinging losses came against LeDonne, losing both games by a combined total of 3 runs.
And look what we have coming up Monday night in the 2nd semifinal game. The Bonediddlies will be taking on LeDonne for a 3rd time this season. Although all of them were very focused in the 2nd meeting vs. this club, they still couldn't pull it out, and lost 5-4. According to Softball Prospectus, the chance of the Bonediddlies losing this game are almost impossible. A team that has played with as good of defense as the Bones have, along with minimal walks from their starting pitcher, and the right amount of hitting, everything looks like it's in the Diddlies favor.
The goal at the beginning of the season was not only to make it to the championship game, but to win it all. The first obstacle in the Bones way is one of their new rivals: LeDonne. The game starts at 8:00 on Monday, following the Fedyski vs. Naberhaus matchup. If the Bones win against LeDonne, I highly doubt that anyone will be able to stop them in the 9:00 championship game.
Parking for the 16' playoffs could be a problem this Monday at Graf Park. Fans are encouraged to use public transportation, or use the overpass and park in the surrounding neighborhoods. The all-night playoffs extravanganza has already sold 38,700 tickets, according to the Wheaton Park District. Of these tickets, 70 percent are Bonediddlies fans.

BONEDIDDLIES get Win #1
Last year, the Bonediddlies were unable to attend the playoffs, due to the season having 6 rainouts, and many of the Bones entering college all over the nation. Unfortunately for the rest of the league this year, the Bonediddlies are here to stay until they win it all.
The Bones were matched up vs. Diorio, who they had previously beaten twice this year. This time would not be any different.
With patience at the plate, a few defensive miscues, and some solid hitting by the Diddlies, they put up a huge 13 spot in the first inning. It took the wind out of the other teams' sails, and they never got even close. The Bones didn't really hit after the first inning, but they peppered in a few more runs to match Diorio's 3 in the rest of the game. The Bonediddlies also played great defense, as they have all season vs. Diorio.
With this game in the rearview mirror, the Bones look ahead to playing LeDonne for the 3rd time in 5 weeks. The Bones have lost the previous 2 games vs. LeDonne, by scores of 14-12, and 5-4 (8 inn.). Everyone in the league has a hard time believing that the Bonediddlies will lose to a team for the 3rd time in the same season. These teams will be squaring off at 8:00, as LeDonne is the 2 seed and the Bones come in as the 3. The other semifinal game features a rematch of last years championship game. Fedyski, the one seed, will be taking on the 4 seed in Naberhaus. This game will take place at 7:00. The Winners of these games will be featured in the 9:00 championship. Hope to see you there!

BREAKING NEWS! DIDDLIES EARN 3 SEED, WILL TAKE ON DIORIO

This was a great surprise to the team as they were expecting to be the 4 seed, but will take on Diorio, who they have already beaten twice this year. As expected, 1Fedyski will play 8Lafond, 2Ledonne will play 7Horvatin, and 4Naberhaus, will play 5Stemple.
The Diddlies will take on the winner of LeDonne vs. Horvatin, while the winner of Naberhaus vs. Stemple will take on Fedyski, who will beat Lafond.

Diddlies Lose Again
The Bonediddlies came into Monday night's game knowing they were playing for the 2 seed in the playoffs. They all were very focused, and had no reason to believe that they were not going to come out on top. Unfortunately, their bats decided not to show up.
The Bones lost another close one to LeDonne, losing 5-4 in 8 innings. For a 16 inch softball game, the score is very pitiful actually. The Bones had the lead the whole game, leading 3-1, then 3-2, and still held the lead in the 7th. After a leadoff home run by LeDonne's 3 hitter, the Bones held LeDonne scoreless the rest of the inning. The Bones had their chance, but didn't do anything in their half. The next inning, LeDonne put up 2 runs, both unearned, and it proved to be enough.
The Bones tried to get a rally going in their half, getting the first 2 men on base. Schmidt then lined out hard to the left fielder, and J. Eversole grounded into a questionable fielder's choice at 2nd. He then tried to force the issue by taking 2nd, then 3rd, and eventually home. He came up just a bit short of home, as the Bones lost this one 5-4.
So the Bones finish up the regular season 6-4, good enough for 4th in the league. They most likely will draw Noodles and Co. in the first round of the playoffs. They beat them earlier this year, so hopefully history will repeat itself.
Come support the Bones next week, as most likely they will be playing in the 815 slot. GO BONES!

Roster Update
The Bones will have starting 3rd basemen Mike Schmidt in the lineup tonight. They will also use Valente Garza at Catcher. They could possibly add an EH for tonight as well.
Goo out with Back Injury...Schmidt Doubtful
Mike Schmidt, 3B status will be determined at 6 pm Central time.
Garza, Goo ready; Schmidt Questionable
The Bonediddlies have to make a move for their 10th spot to be filled by 4:30 Eastern Time, 3:30 Central. The prognosis for Schmidt appears not to be very good. Mark Goudrealt could be called up, and Valente Garza will get the call as well. More news to come as soon as it is avaliable.

Schmidt Questionable for next weeks Game; Goo gets called up for Jed
Mike Schmidts' status is still in the air for next week for the season finale vs. LeDonne. Mark Goo, who has played 2 games already this year, will be back next week to fill in for Kevin Jednachowski, who will be placed on the bereavement list.
The Bones are looking to obtain the 2 seed, which can only be obtained if they win. If for some reason the Bones lose, they could play Diorio, Noodles, or Muldoons, as the 4th or 5th seeds, but experts are saying there is no way the Diddlies can lose against LeDonne again, because it was by far the worst game for them this year.

Bones set new wins record
The Bonediddlies got back to the grind on Monday night, taking care of business vs. Diorio. The squad prevailed 11-4. As usual, the Bones got off to a slow start, scoring 2 runs in the first 2 innings. The defense reappeared after a terrible showing vs. LeDonne last week. Only one of Diorio's runs were unearned.
Mark Goudreault played very well while filling in for 3rd basemen Mike Schmidt. He played flawless in the field, and had a huge, bases clearing double in the 5th to give the Bones a lead they would not relinquish.
The lineup had a different feel to it tonight, while Dave Kinsey lead off. Also, Evan Mielke batted cleanup while one-time leadoff hitter Joe Eversole was in the 5 hole. It was much more of a singles lineup while Schmidt sat out and coached 3rd. Schmidt dislocated his finger badly at practice on Sunday, and really wanted to play, but the staff decided against it. They are very hopeful he can play Monday in the final regular season game.
The Bones close out the season against LeDonne at 9:15 on Monday night. Just 2 weeks ago, the Bones suffered a 14-12 loss, playing terrible defense. This game also will determine who the 2 seed in the playoffs will be. If the Bones can win, their records will be identical, but they would be 1-1 vs. LeDonne. Then the tiebreaker would come into play. It has not been determined what the tiebreaker actually is yet. LET'S GO BONES!

BREAKING NEWS
The Bonediddlies have called the Triple A affiliate Kalamazoo Kangarooes, and have purchased the contract of infielder Mark Goudreault for tonight's game vs. Diorio. The move needed to be put in by 3:30, or else the Bones would have been down a fielder. This move was made because of the injury to regular third basemen Mike Schmidt. Schmidt could still play as the EH tonight, but his status is still questionable.
Goudreault was called up to play shortstop earlier in the year for the Bones while Joe Eversole was out with a sprained hand. He was hitting .674 with the Triple A club, and was the regular starting shortstop. He will move over to third tonight, and should hit in the middle of the lineup.

Schmidt Injured in side session; Status Unknown
Mike Schmidt was injured on Sunday in a freak injury during batting practice. It is not known if he will play tonight vs. Diorio. Schmidt is one of the diddlies hottest hitters right now, and probably the best fielding 3rd basemen in the league.
A corresponding move will be made later today, pending the status of Mike Schmidt.

Diddlies take one on chin, physically and emotionally
The Bonediddlies lost a 14-12 game to Ledonne earlier tonight. The Score did not reflect how the game went. The Bonediddlies made double digit errors, but were somehow still in the game. This just shows how well the Bonediddlies have been playing lately. To get the tying run on base in the last inning shows a lot of character.
The Bonediddlies received back to back home runs from Pat Eversole and Mike Schmidt, College of DuPage students, but it wasn't enough. The defense was uglier than Piet. Evan Mielke was the only one without an error, Mercy.
If the Bonediddlies can find a happy medium between, a flawless game vs. Muldoons and a God awful game vs. Ledonne, they should win the championship without a doubt. The Diddlies just couldn't find the ears on the ball, and it showed. You have to give credit to Ledonne, they are a good team who just hit the ball where we weren't and took the extra base off our errors.
The Diddlies will take on Diorio who they beat earlier this year. The Diddlies will play much better.

Errors lead to Bones first loss since May; Ledonne prevails 14-12.
The Bonediddlies came into the game on a HOT streak, winning their last five, seeming invincible. Unfortunately, even the Bones are human.
Mike Eversole, filling in for Brady, pitched a great game, allowing one walk, and even contributing a few RBIs. He pitched well enough for the win, but the defense was not there.
It just wasn't the Bones day, even with huge extra base hits from Robillard, Schmidt, and P. Eversole. The offense wasn't great, but was definitely good enough to win this game.
Joe Eversole, the team shortstop, had a bad game from the leadoff spot, not reaching base at all. We caught up with him after the game.
"This was a tough loss for everyone, especially me. I didn't do anything to help the team. An Ofer, and way too many errors for a shortstop. I play the position because I want the ball, and after some errors, I played tentative. There's nothing I can do about it though. It's in the past. You live in the past, you die in the past, the past is for cowards. This just means we have to get it done next week vs. Diorio."
The Bones are closing in on the regular season, and now have a record of 5-3. They are in the running for the 2 seed, but it all depends on what the rest of the league does. They play Diorio at 815 next week, and then a rematch vs. LeDonne to end the season, starting at 915.
The Bones thank you for your support.

Brady out; Eversole in
The Bonediddlies will be without their regular starting pitcher Jake Brady for Monday's 6:15 game vs. LeDonne. Jake must return to the Dominican for personal reasons. He will be placed on the bereavement list, and will be eligible to come off on July 13th, just in time for the game vs. Diorio next week.
In a corresponding roster move, the Diddlies will call up 5'8" right hander Mike Eversole from the Class A Savannah Georgia Peaches. This move was just put through the league front office, and should go through by Monday morning. The Uncle of the twins Pat and Joe Eversole, Mike has been performing well has the single A level, carrying a 3-1 record, with a 4.32 ERA in 4 games. That's extremely good for a 16 inch softball pitcher, and the Bones are hoping he can produce in his callup. He was expected to be promoted to the Triple A affiliate Kalamazoo Kangarooes before the end of the season, but was not expected to see time with the big ball club. He was reached by phone shortly after the news became public.
"Oh yeah, it's awesome. I'm really excited to show the team what I can do in a league like this. Hopefully this won't be my last time here."
Mike will bat 10th in the order, but the Bones are not really expecting him to do much in the lineup. They are expecting him to throw strikes, and let the stellar defense do it's job. See you Monday at 615!

ESPN: Sharar Stoppel back for Monday's game
Stephen A. Smith of ESPN is reporting that Bonediddlies Rover, Trent Sharar Stoppel, will be back in the lineup for the next game.
All Star Voting has closed. All the Bonediddlies have made it, plus Fedyski, Matt Alexander, Art Wagner. Noodles was named as a first reserve. They will be playing Team Japan at a later date, in Tokyo, Japan.

AP: Report on Muldoons vs. Diddlies altercation
It has been confirmed by numerous sources that the Muldoons pitcher, who single handely lost the game for his team, called Joe Eversole a "Smart" A$$ instead of the previously reported "dumb" A$$. The Bonediddlies had to deal with a lot of adversity last night, terrible umpiring, terrible sportsmanship, but it was a nice night to get a W...
Pat Eversole and Mike Schmidt were at an Autograph session at Taco Fresco, of Wheaton, IL, and had this to say about the altercation:
Pat: "We knew that they were bitter, especially the older guys, because they just got their asses totally kicked, shut out, by a better looking and more athletic team. We have more class then one certain individual on Muldoons aka Naberhaus.
Mike: "You always have to be ready to fight, always have to be ready, man!"
(This Standings are not official, because Dan Novak has only made standings avaliable through the first 3 games, 4 for Naberhaus)
The loss gave Naberhaus their 3rd straight, making their record 4-4, since they played a double header earlier in the year, they are one game ahead of the rest of the league. They have 2 games left, both against celluar dweller Lafond, so they should be able to finish 6-4.
The Diddlies have a record of 5-2. The 2 seed is will be theirs if they win out, and possibly the 1 seed if Fedyski falters. This would probably mean the Bones would get Horvatin or Ledonne, according to the standings earlier in the year.
The Diddlies have 3 regular season games left, 2 vs Ledonne, and 1 against old rival Diorio. The rivalry has taken a step back because of the tension between the Bones and Muldoons. The Bones hope to play Naberhaus again, so we can shut those pussies down, and keep the ball.

That's 5
The Bonediddlies continued their winning ways, beating Naberhaus 7-0 on Monday. The squad played nearly flawless, with everyone contributing. The offense didn't do terrible, but didn't wow the crowd either. They just peppered singles and a few doubles all over the field all night. There were no fireworks in the game, but after was a different story.
After recording the final out, a 5-3 groundout, the shortstop of the Bones, Joe Eversole asked Ben Robillard for the ball. After shaking hands with the Bones, Naberhaus's pitcher asked for the ball. Eversole responded by saying, "Winning team gets it." This is a true statement, because in the Bonediddlies previous 6 games, the league had played it this way. It also makes sense because a coin flip decides the home team, and hypothetically, a team could be away for all 10 games, and never get a ball. Instead of walking away and having some class, the pitcher preceded to call Eversole, a "dumba**." What a classless move by this sore loser. The Bonediddlies all are 19 and younger, and had to be the adults in this situation. Eversole even gave the ball back to another player on Naberhaus, just to be nice and end the confrontation. But to even show less class, the other team tossed back an old, ratty ball. The Bones mostly laughed it off, but some didn't think it was too funny.
But the Bones get the last laugh this time, winning the game, leaving no doubt that this team is on a mission to take home the title. Although the other teams player was very disrespectful, The Bones are bigger and better than that, and much more mature.
Next Game: 6:15 vs. Ledonne. This will be the first time the Bones play Ledonne this season, and hopefully they keep them close to memory, because they'll be playing them again 4 weeks from today. The Bones are currently 5-2, second in the league, behind Fedyski.

Roster Update
On Friday afternoon, Joe Eversole, the shortstop for the Bonediddlies, was upgraded to Probable for Monday's game vs. Naberhaus. On Saturday morning, Eversole woke up not feeling well. The recovery has been slow, as his 3 fingers are still very bruised. The pain had been going down, but on Saturday, it had regressed. Eversole has been downgraded to Questionable for Monday. The Bones will already be missing their Rover Trent Sharar-Stoppel because of personal reasons. Eversole will see how he feels Sunday, so hopefully the Bones do not have to make 2 roster moves.
Once again, the game on Monday, June 30th is vs. Naberhaus at 7:15.

Season So Far
The Bonediddlies are 6 games into their season, and they have compiled a 4-2 record in those games. The Bones hope to play the max of 13, because that would place them in the championship game on August 4th. I'd just like to take a few moments and highlight everyone's individual performances so far, as well as how well the team is meshing right now.
The squad started the year off 0-2, and it was not looking too promising. There were too many errors by fielders, not enough hits throughout the lineup, and the pitchers were having control problems. But in the 3rd week of the season, all the Bones started putting it together, and haven't looked back since. The Bones have won their last 4 games, outslugging their opponents 53-21. What also has helped the Bones is that their defense has really picked it up, and that's including everyone. Here's some player analysis so far of the players.
C Dave Kinsey-He probably has been the best defensive catcher this league has seen in its existence. Whenever there has been a close play at the plate, Dave puts himself in a position to make a play, even if it means taking one for the team in the leg. Not only has Dave played great defense, his bat started to pick it up this year. Last year, Dave wasn't really much of a threat until the end of the year, where he really got hot. He's continued a solid pace at the plate, threatening the defense with his ability to hit to all fields successfully.
1B Ben Robillard- If you haven't heard, Ben Robillard could be in line to dethrone Fedyski as the leagues' top first basemen. His defense at first has been probably the best on the whole squad this year, and has saved the team at least 10 outs. He just doesn't make mistakes when he steps inbetween those lines. His hitting has also been very good. Going into last season, Ben was one of the main power threats for the Diddlies. He temporarily lost his power in the concluding games last year, but still was making contact. This year, he's back. After getting his swing to line drive form by opening day, Ben has started to take off. He is tearing the cover off the ball, and is in the top 10 in the league for extra base hits, including a Home Run vs. Noodles and Co.
2B Jon Kinsey- After much spectulation that Jon Kinsey became too cool at Hope College to continue to play softball, he continues to shine at 2nd for the Bones. He has made some great plays in the infield, and really commands presence out on the field. He is most well known for his right field swing, which is almost perfect. Although the Bones do not feature a left handed bat in their lineup, Jon might as well be listed as one. He continues to be a role model for young softball players around the world, showing it's not how far you hit it, it's where.
SS Joe Eversole- Coming into the season, Eversole prided himself on solid defense and just getting a few hits here and there. After hitting in the high .400s for last season, he was slated to bat in the middle or bottom of the order. Things changed very quickly after the top of the order struggled to produce in the first 2 games. After being inserted into the leadoff spot after batting .800 through the first 2 games, he has maintained a .722 BA with an .800 OBP after playing in the next 3 games there. His defense has been solid as expected, but his bat became much more heavily counted on to begin the season
3B Mike Schmidt- The main power threat coming into this season, Schmidt was expecting to explode out of the gates. Unfortunately, like many other Bones, he struggled in the first 2 games. After being shuffled around in the lineup though, Schmidt has found a permanent home as the team's cleanup hitter. Lately, he has been laying out ropes for extra base hits, and his average could be higher if teams did not make such spectacular plays on his line drives. He's been very good at third, and sometimes is called "Oreck" because he sucks so much shit up.
R Trent Sharar-Stoppel- You always know Trent is going to give you effort. After batting relatively low in the order last year, he was vaulted into the 2 spot to shake things up. He has not looked back since. Usually when someone gets on ahead of him, you'll see Trent get on and really cause problems for the other team with the Bones big bats coming up. He hasn't seen too much action at Rover, but against Stemple, he played in perfect position and stole many basehits.
RF Pat Eversole- He's been a fixture in the middle of the order for the Bones their whole history. Now this year, he's been able to display his defensive ability by taking over Matt Fitzgerald in right field. No offense to Fitz, but Pat's arm really gives the team another aspect to their defense. His hitting has been fantastic, spraying the ball all over the field, but his defense has been good if not better. He has caught everything and even has a few outfield assists. His arm is one of the more feared in the league, so baserunners may want to think twice about taking the extra base on him.
CF Kevin Jednachowski- After winning the team's co-most valuble player award last year with his clutch hitting and good defense, Jed was supposed to be the teams' #2 hitter throughout the year. After struggling out of the gate, he was bumped down, but he definitely was not out. Moving to center field after starting in right the first 2 games has benefitted him and the Bones defense. His lanky body gives him bigger strides and he is able to get to balls in the gaps and over his head much easier then most outfielders. And after struggling with the bat early, JED has turned it on lately, pounding the ball into the outfield.
LF Evan Mielke- After splitting MVP votes with Jed last year, Evan was looking to return as the teams leadoff hitter and left fielder. He struggled mightly out of the gate, not even reaching base in the first 2 games. Evan only wishes he could erase those 2 games. The past 4, he's put on a clinic on how the game of 16 inch softball should be played. His OBP is off the charts right now, but more importantly, he's really getting it done in the field. Other teams tell their hitters to not hit to left, because Milk catches everything out there. His ability to run the ball down and put himself in good position for throws has also got him some gold glove/hand consideration. He by far has been the best outfielder in the league so far.
P Jake Brady- After being late for the first game, not many Bones were happy about Jake's attitude and demeanor towards the team. That's a serious after thought right now. After having control problems in games 1 and 2, Brady has turned into a top tier pitcher again, limiting walks, and letting his defense do the work for him. He is in the lead for the Cy Young right now.
The Bonediddlies are hot right now, and are clicking on all cylinders. If I was on any other team in the league, I would not want to see these 10 men across the way.
Also, thank you fans for all your support so far this year. KEEP IT COMING.
GO BONES!

BREAKING NEWS: Robillard=Gold Glove/Hand?
A report released by the Associated Press early today said that Ben Robillard could possibly dethrone Fedyski as the Gold Glove at First Base in the Men's 16 inch league. Fedyski has won the Gold Glove at First for the past 14 years, but Robillard only has one error on the season, compared to Fedyskis' 3. This could be an interesting contest, which will go down to the wire.
Also in the news, Trent Sharar-Stoppel has been placed on the bereavement list, and will miss the next game on June 30th against Naberhaus.
A corresponding move will follow in the next few days.

Bats lead way to 4th Straight
The Bonediddlies played exceptionally well tonight against Noodles and Co., getting the win 15-6. The game was back and forth the first few innings, but the Bonediddly offense came up with some big clutch hits. Ben Robillard had a home run, and Mike Schmidt nearly tore the cover off the ball.
The outfielders, Mielke, Jednachowski, and Pat Eversole all played great defense as well as hit the ball with great finesse. If Jednachowski can get on a roll, look out.
Jake Brady was nearly flawless on the mound, once again limiting walks. Dave Kinsey, who was playing was a bruised hip, scored a few runs.
Jon Kinsey looked great taking the ball the other way.
Trent Sharar Stoppel had a great game out of the 2 hole.
Mark Goudrealt filled in for the injured Joe Eversole at short, and played flawless in the field.
The Bonediddlies will play Naberhaus, who beat the Diddlies in the season opener, but this is a new team, with a new attitude. They will go for 5 in a row!

Update
A hand specialist was called into to examine Joe Eversole's hand injury, and it was concluded that the pinky is NOT broken. The ligaments in all 3 fingers were severely sprained though, according to the specialists. The Bonediddlies have some of the best medical staff in the league, and in a statement, Eversole had this to say:
"I'm so grateful for the staff and their hardwork they do everyday. We've all be fortunate enough not to have that many injuries so far in our history. I'm not going to be out too long, and with the staff we have, I'm sure I'll be ready for June 30th vs. Naberhaus."

Breaking News
The Bonediddlies have placed Joe Eversole. their everyday shortstop, on the 5-Day disabled list. Eversole was hurt in the first inning of last night's game. He slid into 3rd, head first, and it was not pretty. He bruised 2 knuckles and had a slight fracture of his right pinky. He finished the game with his adrenaline taking over, even turning a double play in the middle innings on a hot shot hit up the middle. His bat will be missed tonight against Noodles, as he is batting .722 on the season.
The Bones will make a corresponding roster move by calling up Mark Goudreault from the AA Salt Lake City Shakers. He most likely will playing shortstop, so other Bones don't mess up their routines.
BEAT NOODLES!

Another W
The Bonediddlies extended their winning streak to 3 games with a win over Diorio, 14-10. The Bones were down 8-3 at one point and stormed back with some clutch hitting. There were some problems in the field, especially in the outfield, but the Bones picked each other up. Ben Robillard looked great as he saved many outs for his squad.
The Diddlies have a big test tomorrow, Noodles & Co. at 9:15. The first game the Diddlies ever played was a defeat at the hands of Noodles 11-2. The Bones hope to change their fortunes.
Injury Update: Joe Eversole suffered a bruised hand, and his status is unclear for tomorrows' game. Pat Eversole could fill in at Shortshop, as well as Jon Kinsey. This would move Dave Kinsey to the Outfield and Joe behind the plate if need be.

Bones Get Win #1
The Bonediddlies finally got their first tally of the year on Monday night, beating Horvatin's squad, previously run by O'Malley. The Bones slaughtered the squad 14-4. The score did not really indicate how the game really went though. The Bones got the lead early in the first inning, allowing no runs in the top of the first, and putting 2 on the board in their half of the first. The Bones did not relinquish the lead, but it got close, as Horvatin made it 5-4 in the middle innings. In the bottom of the 6th, still the Bones roared for 9 runs, ending the game with the 10 run rule. The Bones were lead by spectacular defense in the outfield, with Evan Mielke and Pat Eversole, the Left and Right fielders, respectively, each having an assist, gunning out a runner at the plate, conserving the lead for the Bones in the 5th. Dave Kinsey, the catcher, made great plays, and took a little punishment at the plate, but held onto the ball both times. The end of the game also had a freak injury, with Ben Robillard at the plate. Ben got to 2nd on a well hit ball in the gap, and the other team threw it home, trying to nail the Bonediddly runner at the plate. The catcher then tossed the ball to 3rd, with 3 of the defenders around the base, including Horvatin's pitcher. Their pitcher has a reputation of giving up his body for anything, and it showed on Monday. Robillard slid/tumbled into third, while the pitcher jumped in the air for the ball, and Robillard's body caught the players feet. He fell hard, and started bleeding profusely. He got up, went to the bench, and was attended to after a brief stint on the ground. It was an ugly play to cap a tough night for Horvatin's squad. It put a bit of a damper on the W for a bit, but all was well when the pitcher came out to shake hands with the Bones. The team wishes him well, and a quick recovery as well.
Another reason the Bones won was because of their hitting. The lineup had a new look, with Joe Eversole leading off, and Trent S. in the 2 hole. The Bones were hoping that these 2 guys would set the table, and they did for Pat, Mike S. and the other Bones. The top 4 in the lineup had 12 hits, with J. Eversole having 5 of them. The bottom of the order came to play too, as former leadoff man Evan Mielke contributed to the hit parade as well. Jon Kinsey really came to play though, batting 9th, hitting 2 monster shots the other way for extra bases. But the best performance of the night came from Jake Brady, who took the mound with extra confidence tonight, showing that last weeks tough outing was a thing of the past. Brady limited his walks, still had a few, but eliminated leadoff walks. If he does that, the Bones will be in every game.
Next week, the Bones will be taking on Noodles and Co., which will be a 9:15 start. The Bones really want this one, because the last time these 2 squads met was the first game ever for the Bonediddlies Franchise, and they were embarrassed, only getting 2 hits, and getting killed 11-2. The Bones are hoping for a better result this time around. SEE YOU AT THE FIELD NEXT WEEK!

BONES LOSE OPENER
The Bonediddlies did not start the season off how they wanted to, falling to the defending champion, Naberhaus. The final was 11-4. The Bones were never really in the game, while the score may have indicated. After 2.5 innings, the Bones cut into the other teams' lead, 5-2. That was the closest the Bones would get. The rainy conditions certainly did not help the Bones, as many balls bounced away from the outfielders, and the infielders had a bit of trouble fielding some balls. Overall though, the Bones problem was their lack of Offense. No one really shined tonight, and that was a problem. The Bones only real threat came in the 6th, but they only mustered 2 more runs. Overall, it looks like it may take the Bones a bit to get their groove back. Hopefully though, it's sooner than later. The Bones will take on powerhouse Fedyski at 815 next week.

GAME CANCELLED
I hate to report this news, but the Bonediddlies season opener will be put on hold for yet another week. Dan Novak, Comissioner, informed the Bonediddlies of this terrible news around 11 A.M. this morning. The new lights are up, but ComEd could not inspect them until Tuesday, May 13th. Novak reassured the Bones that we would finish the whole season this year, so we will have to see. The possibilty of playing on Mondays and Tuesdays for a 2 week span is a possibilites. More news to come as it arrives...

Guys
Just a friendly reminder, have your payment to me before game time.
NOTES: While the Bonediddlies will be without Nolan Cruz for the home opener, Joe Sengel's contract from the Single A affiliate Savannah Georgia Peaches will be purchased by the club. Sengel will be playing Right or Center field, but it has not been determined where he will bat, or even how the lineup is going to look.
After suffering a sprained finger 2 weeks ago, Ben Robillard is now at 100 percent and will be ready for the opener.
Joe Eversole, the team's starting shortstop, was slightly injured in a side session yesterday. The injury was not disclosed, and the severity of it was not as well. We will keep you updated as the news comes in.

Sup BONES!?
As of Friday night, the new lights at Graf Park field number 5 were not up. But, I rode over on my bike today, and they are UP! It looked grim yesterday, as if the Bones would have to wait another week to take the field. Novak had his crew put the lights up at 4 A.M. this morn, so we are all ready to go. 54.5 hours till game time!

Preview: Bonediddlies vs. LeDonne
HEY EVERYONE!
Unfortunately, the Bones season opener was PPD because of the renovations being made to Graf Park #5. The field will be ready for the May 12th game. It's an exciting time for the Bonediddlies, as the offseason workouts commenced on May 4th. We caught up with Evan Mielke as he made his way to the players parking lot.
"It was disappointing to find out the game was off. We all were feeling really good after today's practice. We just have to carry over the momentum to Monday, against Ledonne."
The Bones will be taking on a new team to the league this year. No one really knows much about them right now, so there's no way to tell how the game will go. The Bones are hoping that LeDonne and his squad are a nervous bunch, similar to the Bones in their first league appearance last year. The game will have a start time of 9:15, and will be broadcast locally on WCTV-17, with Harry Caray on the call. The weather as of Tuesday, May 6th does not look bad, but we will have to see if the weather will cooperate.
I see the Bones playing with a chip on their shoulder this game, proving to LeDonne, and the rest of the league, that they are for real this year. Final: 14-5, Bones.

Politics
Tough day for me, because I feel that I have lost a friend. I am sorry Curt, even joking about this whole situation. It was really shitty of me to not inform you of our plans. And good for Dave for having a spine. I will talk to you soon.

It's Official-email from Novak
The lights aren't up, so opening day is now May 12th. The first game for the Diddlies will be at 9:15 agaisnt Ledonne, a new team. Everyone will be home except Dave Kinsey.
FUCK NOVAK
FUCK NOVAK
Opening Day Change
The new lights at Graf Field #5 were still not up as of May 1st, 2008 at about 9:30 PM. This means that the first game will 90% be on May 12th. I am expecting a call from Novak soon about this. He is a prick by the way.
Also, Possible rainout day this year is Tuesday, so make sure you keep that open. Both teams will have to agree on it though.

Injury Update
As all of you know, Ben Robillard sustained a finger injury earlier this week. We have been tracking his progress very closely. The finger was very swollen yesterday, but thing are looking up. The swelling has gone down, but is still there. It is only Thursday, so the team is taking a wait and see approach. I would peg Ben at about 75 % to play right now. The team really needs to have him at 100 percent the whole season, so precautionary measures are being taken.

Recent News
According to Commisoner Dan Novak, the lights at Graf #5 are not up yet. This could put a hold on the Diddlies season opener for May 5th. Worst case scenario the first game would be May 12th. We would not make up the game with Diorio until the end of the year.
Some tough news on the injury front. Ben Robillard, incumbent starting 1st basemen has a jammed finger, and may not be ready for the May 5th game. Management is very concerned, seeing as the Bonediddlies may have to bring Kevin Smith or Zach Oates to sub. As of April 30th, Ben Robillard is 50%.
More to come on this developing story.

Payment
Just so everyone knows, I made the payment to Novak today. The total for the league is 45 dollars. If you don't pay me before the first game you play in, you will not be playing. Once again, IF YOU DO NOT PAY THE FULL 45 DOLLARS, YOU AREN'T PLAYING. No paying me 20 and then only playing some games. This is a full-time commitment, so FUCK ALL y'ALL!

As you all know, the Bonediddlies season was cut short by inclement weather last year. Looking at the forecast for the game on Monday, although it is early, NO RAIN IS IN THE FORECAST. Bring your sweatshirts though, and Diorio is going down!

A note from the GM
The Part I Hate (Business of the Bonediddlies)
Right now, there is still a few question marks surrounding the Diddlies, especially concerning Joe Sengel. What people don't understand is that no matter what, someone is not going to be happy. Whether this be a position change, or a spot in the batting order, there will always be one person who questions it. Even if they don't bring it up, it still can affect the team, with a lack of effort and so on.
What players need to understand is that we're here to have fun, but were also here to win. We're not going to put players on the field who we don't think can help us win. No matter what, as long as you're in the lineup, no one should be complaining (ask the person who was the EH for at least 7 games last year).
The point I will try and get across is have fun, and relax. There is no point complaining about where you are in the field, we'll all get to bat every game.
That being said, mostly everyone will EH at least one game this year. The decision will be made based on where help is needed on the field. It is only fair because other people want to play positions besides Catcher and EH.
We're all Bonediddlies, we have our starting 11. We're going to win. If we need help, we have the subs who can help us whenever.
That's all for now, keep practicing.

Exclusive Report
STILL A BONE
In a recent teleconference with last year's center fielder Joe Sengel, he still expressed strong feelings about being part of the team. This season, though, he most likely will not. Bonediddlies softball for Sengel is taking a backseat to his life right now. Sengel went on to say even though he won't be starting for the Bones this year, he hopes to sign a 1 or 2 game contract with the team this season. It is a possibility, but could be tough with the Bones full roster. He also made it clear that for the 2009 season, he will be a full-time player again, and will compete for a starting job. Management was not really clear on what Sengel's situation was going to be, but it is confirmed now. Sengel will start the season with the Single A affiliate of the Bones, the Savannah Georgia Peaches. He most likely will spend the season with them, because of the location close to his summer home. Don't be surprised to see Sengel out in the field at least once this season.

Position Updates
As for right now, it looks like Kevin Jednachowski and Valente Garza are the only question marks in the field. Not questioning their skill, but exactly where will they be playing? We caught up with Hope College's very own Jon Kinsey, 2nd basemen for the Bonediddlies.
"Well, it's simple, Both of them (Jednachowski and Garza) are good athletes, both playing college football next year. They are both more than capable then filling in anywhere. Go College."
The question is, where will Jednachowski play. Since he will probably be the everyday Rightfielder, it might be a good idea to put him out there. Garza might not know how to play Rover, but his athleticism will make up for that, management believes.

News and Notes: April 23rd
New Arrival:Multiple League Sources, including Telemundo, Impacto Deportivo, Oxygen, and ESPN are confirming that the Bonediddlies will be purchasing the contract of Nolan Cruz from the Kalamazoo Kangaroos, the Bonediddlies Triple A affiliate. Cruz appeared in 2 games for the big club last year, and it was obvious that he belonged with in the league. There was no spot for him, but with the opening in the outfield, it lets the Bones keep Kevin Jednachowski out in Right Field. It also keeps Pat Eversole, the teams utility player, free of concentrating on one position. Cruz will defintely keep the defense out in center at the level it was last year, but his presence in the lineup will definitely be noticeable. He will definitely give the lineup a power boost, tagging along with big bats Ben Robillard and Mike Schmidt. He will either hit 3rd or 4th, and the same goes for Mike Schmidt. We caught up with Mike, and got his feelings on the aquisition.
"Oh yeah, it's great. (Cruz) really helps us in every facet of the game. Speed, power, defense, and leadership. It's good also because it takes pressure off other guys in the lineup. He's going to contribute for us big time this year."
Starting Pitching: As many of you know, Jake Brady will not be at the first game for the Bones. He's still having problems with his visa in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. So, the Bonediddlies will dip into the minor league system once again, this time going to the Double A club, the Salt Lake City Shakers, and will call up Mike Eversole, uncle of Joe and Pat. Mike Eversole has played 16 inch for a long time, but he is not really considered competition for the young gun Jake Brady. Mike could still get another call up after opening day, but it's highly doubtful. Through a phone call, he expressed thanks to the organization giving him a chance and calling him up to fill in. As long as he throws strikes, the defense should DO WORK for him.
SUB WAY: The Bones will also use Valente Garza on their opening day roster. He played in one game last year, so he will still qualify for the Rookie of the year award. He will probably play rover for the first game, but could possibly play out in right. The team won't be looking for him to do anything special, but they do expect him to play solid defense, where he plays.
Attn Bones: If anyone else noticed, the games last year where at the bottom of the hours, meaning :30. The games now are a quarter after, so make sure we are there no later than the top of the hour! Preferably, we would like to be at least a half an hour, maybe even more to the first few games, because we will need to throw around a little longer and take BP. Also, we need to size up the rest of the league. If you have not started throwing, please do. Hitting will also need some work.

Breaking News
It is being reported out of ESPN Deportes that the Bonediddlies may have found a new Centerfielder. Nolan Cruz, Bonediddly minor leaguer, is close to reaching a deal with the front office of the Bonediddlies. This would complete the 11-man roster, permanently taking the place of Former CF Joe Sengel. The contract negotiations are still pending, but this looks like a great move for the Diddlies.A preview of the opening day lineup
Evan Mielke LF
Kevin Jednachowski RF/R
Mike Schmidt 3B
Nolan Cruz CF
Pat Eversole C
Ben Robillard 1B
Joe Eversole SS
Jon Kinsey 2B

Jake Brady will return to the lineup for game 2 on May 12th to pitch. Dave Kinsey will return on May 19th, to catch. Trent Sharar Stoppel will also be back by game 2. His Status is unclear for the first game. This will likely slide Pat Eversole to the EH spot for the 3rd game, barring an injury or contract situation. Valente Garza, Diddly sub, will fill in admirably.

Preview: Still Kickin' vs. Bonediddlies
Well Folks, it's 2 weeks until the opener for the Bones. They will take on one of their main rivals, Still Kickin, to open the season.
Still Kickin' is a veteran-filled team, with their average age around 40. They split the series with the Bones last year, being them 17-16 in last year's second game of the season, but the second time they met, the Bones pulled out a victory.
This year, Still Kickin' returns many of the same players, including their All-Star Catcher, Diorio. They also feature a young left fielder who bats cleanup, who could give the Bones problems. Otherwise, Still Kickin' fields a solid team, and my prediction for them would be around the 4-5 seed for the playoffs.
As for the game, I really do not see the Diddlies losing this one. Although it will be their first game back, without much practice together as a unit, I just think that their skill, and age (lack of) will really help them. The Bones will be missing their starting pitcher, Jake Brady, but will possibly be calling up Mike Eversole, Uncle to brothers Pat and Joe. The whole Bones infield will be there, around the horn, including Mike Schmidt, Joe Eversole, Jon Kinsey, and Ben Robillard. The outfield will have leadoff hitter Evan Mielke out in left, but center and left field will be question marks. Pat Eversole, the team's utility player, will probably get the start in Right, moving Kevin Jednachowski to Center. Triple A players Nolan Cruz and/or Valente Garza could get calls up for this game as well. They would most likely be the rover and/or catcher.
If you follow the Bones, you noticed I did not mention Joe Sengel, the regular center fielder. Sources say that he might not be with the Bones this year, due to moving to Southern Illinois for the summer. Management really didn't understand this decision, but they respect it. Sengel might appear in 1 or 2 games this year, but it's highly doubtful that he will play for the Bones this year, or maybe ever again.
Back to the game though, I see the Bones coming through with one big inning, possibly in their 2nd at-bats, and really breaking the game open. Their defense should be solid, and will keep them in the game. My final score prediction: 12-5 Bones.

Joe Sengel
Initial report from ESPN's J.A Adande says that Joe Sengel, 'diddly center fielder, could miss the season with an undisclosed sickness. Rumors circulating around the sports world say that it could be "college I don't want to live at home because I am independent syndrome". More information to come...

Some Great News
In a recent news release by Comcast Sportsnet, it has been reported that the Bonediddlies will have their starting infield avaliable for the exhibition game on May 5th. This includes Mike Schmidt at 3rd, Joe Eversole at Shortstop, Jon Kinsey at 2nd, and Ben Robillard at 1st. This will help the Bonediddlies get in sync for the regular season. Kevin Jednachowski and Pat Eversole will probably fill in in the outfield, and the rest of the spots will be filled up by Bonediddly subs.

Practice
The first practice could be the weekend of May 3rd. Stay posted if you are avaliable. It won't be much, just a little hitting, throwing and taking some ground balls.
Lineup Change
Since Dave Kinsey won't be coming home until aboout May 15th, Pat Eversole, GM, Manager, Player and Captain will Catch for the first game. This will eliminate the use of the Extra Hitter, the position made for the big boppers of the Men's 16 inch softball league. Mike Schmidt, the Bonediddly Third Basemen, had this to say ESPN's Pedro Gomez:
"Yeah, Dave got it done last year, he made some great plays at the plate, plays that other guys' wouldn't even have a chance at, but we'll be alright. It's only one game, and Pat should be fine behind the plate, he's been there before."
That's all for now, back to Bristol.

Other Notes
Although the Bonediddlies have a great minor league system, a lot of players will not see as much time in the bigs. The Bonediddlies are a tight knit group, and their team chemistry will win them a lot of games. The offseason has been a lot longer, but spring training has begun and the Bonediddlies are ready to go.
The season preview looks good, the lineup shouldn't change much, if anything.
It was hard to say goodbye to a few of the contributors last year, but they can refine their skills and maybe be around in case of an injury or emergency situation.

Season Preview
Bonediddly Season Preview: It's almost that time of year again; the Bonediddlies will reconvene for a 2nd season in 2008. The Diddlies finished at 5-4, really turning it on in their last 5 games, going 4-1. Unfortunately, 6 rainouts caused the team to miss the playoffs, as the first semester of college was calling them all. The Bones are looking to build on their success, and hoping to make some noise in the playoffs this year. A year of experience should really help the team out this season.Although the off-season is not over, there is plenty of buzz around Bonediddly camp. The main story this off-season has been the shuffling of the squad. The starting Right Fielder, Matt Fitzgerald, will not be back for the season. This comes as a huge shock to the squad, as "Fitz" was a solid player for the Bones last year, making no errors and having a healthy batting average. His clubhouse presence will be very missed. Third Baseman Mike Schmidt expressed his sadness in a news teleconference on ESPN earlier this week.
"Yeah, it's going to be hard coming to the park every week and knowing he won't be showing up. His chizzled features and amazing Dodge truck really made him a player. He was a great teammate, and even a better person." - Mike Schmidt, Bonediddlies 3rd basemen. That is the biggest off-season story surrounding the squad this year. But there is also a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season. The Bones return a solid squad in 2008. The defense could see a bit of an adjustment though. With an opening in the outfield, other players will be vying for Matt Fitzgerald’s old spot. The most likely filler for the position would be incumbent 2nd basemen Kevin “Is He Out” Jednachowski. If this occurred, infielder Jon Kinsey would most likely fill in the 2 base hole. The infield will return 3 starters, including 1st basemen Ben Robillard, Shortstop Joe Eversole, and big hitting 3rd base Mike Schmidt. The squad is really counting on these guys to play solid defense, and of course, the corner infielders will be a main supply of power in the middle of the lineup. The outfield returns 2 starters: Center Fielder Joe Sengel, and Left Fielder Evan Mielke. Both of these guys are high OBP players.. They will be counted on for getting on base for the big guys in the lineup. The opening day EH will be Pat Eversole, also the manager. He will also play sometime in the field, but his slap style of hitting really gives the defense headaches when he is batting in a power spot in the lineup. He has flashes of power, but probably will be a high OBP guy as well. Playing Rover will be Trent Sharar-Stoppel, who will also bat low in the lineup to help get on base and set the tone for the bottom. His solid defense really helped out an already stellar outfield and solid infield. The battery will consist of catcher Dave Kinsey, and pitcher Jake Brady. On opening day last season, Brady started as the rover, and Dave was the starting pitcher. After missing the 2nd game of the year, Kinsey was ousted by Brady, arguably the best pitcher in the league. If Brady can just throw strikes, the Bones defense will be able to pick him up. Dave Kinsey’s bat really got hot at the end of the year last year, so hopefully he can continue that streak. If the season were to start today, I think the lineup would look like this:
Mielke LF Sengel CF Jednachowski RF Eversole, P EHSchmidt, 3B Robillard, 1B Brady, PEversole, J SS Kinsey, J 2B Sharar-Stoppel, R Kinsey, D C. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see these guys go for the title at Graf Park , Field #5 this year!
