Goal not accomplished by Bonediddlies yet

When the Bonediddlies finished the 2007 with a 5-4 record, they were disappointed that they could not partake in the playoffs. They would have been the 2 seed, and maybe could have won the championship. The first year of the franchise would not be considered successful, but definitely far from a disappointment. But now, it's all in the past now for the Bones, as they look ahead to Monday August 4th, 2008.

The Bonediddlies record currently stands at 7-4, the best winning percentage in franchise history. The goal for the Bonediddlies this year was not only to secure the leagues' #1 seed, but to dominate any team that got in their way. They really wanted to be the team accepting the Dan Novak Memorial Trophy at the end of the year as well.

Not everything went to plan during the year, but the Bones did finish as a 3 seed for the regular season (The league expanded from 6 to 8 teams this season). As usual, the team started off very slow, losing their first 2 games. Then, the reeled off 5 straight wins, then split their last 2 regular season games. The 2 stinging losses came against LeDonne, losing both games by a combined total of 3 runs.

And look what we have coming up Monday night in the 2nd semifinal game. The Bonediddlies will be taking on LeDonne for a 3rd time this season. Although all of them were very focused in the 2nd meeting vs. this club, they still couldn't pull it out, and lost 5-4. According to Softball Prospectus, the chance of the Bonediddlies losing this game are almost impossible. A team that has played with as good of defense as the Bones have, along with minimal walks from their starting pitcher, and the right amount of hitting, everything looks like it's in the Diddlies favor.

The goal at the beginning of the season was not only to make it to the championship game, but to win it all. The first obstacle in the Bones way is one of their new rivals: LeDonne. The game starts at 8:00 on Monday, following the Fedyski vs. Naberhaus matchup. If the Bones win against LeDonne, I highly doubt that anyone will be able to stop them in the 9:00 championship game.

Parking for the 16' playoffs could be a problem this Monday at Graf Park. Fans are encouraged to use public transportation, or use the overpass and park in the surrounding neighborhoods. The all-night playoffs extravanganza has already sold 38,700 tickets, according to the Wheaton Park District. Of these tickets, 70 percent are Bonediddlies fans.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. SEE YOU MONDAY!
